Saturday night was Claire and Phil’s Gangsters and Mols party. I’d planned it to be my only night out of the weekend, but as usual I ended up in the pub after work on Friday. Friday also happened to be Andy’s Birthday for which everyone was going to the Sneaker Pimps at the Concorde 2. Duncan and I popped along for a few pre-club drinks in the Sidewinder, with no intention to go to Concorde, however Andy had a spare ticket and I couldn’t say no! I had a really good night but paid for it on Saturday!

I swear I was still drunk when I got up. I cycled into town shaking like a leaf to meet Alex at 3 and sort out our gangster costumes. We wandered around all the skanky shops Brighton has to offer; my cheeks flustered through dehydration. TK Maxx, Oxfam, Dorothy House, the second hand shops in the Laines - nothing remotely Gangster! Finally - just as we were about to give up - the very busy fancy dress shop on Sydney Street sold White Braces and a White Tie, which we just had to buy. As we walked back into town we went through the market behind Kensington Gardens and found the coolest Trilby’s ever! We were set!

The Gangster party was well good. Despite feeling crap in the afternoon, I soon livened up after a few drinks. Everyone had made a real effort and looked really good! I love wearing hats and my Black and White Trilby is so cool! I had 3 separate people say I looked like a healthy Pete Doherty! If he can pull Kate Moss - I don’t mind being likened to him! Maybe i’ll even be a genius with the Guitar like Pete too in time, although I haven’t tried playing any of his songs yet! Here’s the rest of the Gangster photos - I’ll let them do the talking!

Last night I went for what is becoming my weekly Sunday night run. This week I planned my route using Google Maps Pedometer. As you can see - the 4 mile/6.4 km route took me down to the sea front, west toward the King Alfred Centre, then East toward the West Pier then back home again. I’ve been slowly building up the distance - from a lowly 4K to 6.4K last night. Hopefully I’ll make a 10K run before Christmas - and in under an hour. I struggled to make last night in 40mins however. It may be something to do with the amount of Alcohol I consumed this weekend! Needless to say - like every Monday - my legs feel like lead.

Its actually surprisingly relaxing, running beside the dark expanse of the sea into a cold headwind! Last week it was really stormy and still a little light - the white squall of the sea lashing against the ruined West Pier still visible. I jogged toward it listening to Hard-Fi which is a superb running album. Last night however it was dark as dark can be - I hate GMT - I can’t wait 6 months for BST again! I jogged to The Kooks which is a little slower than Hard-Fi which might explain my rubbish time. Maybe i’ll Jog to Drum and Bass next week - might knock 10 minutes off my time!

Anyway - I’m going to bed now. May not post again this week - Barca Chelsea tomorrow, Arsenal on Wed and i’m off to Harrogate on Thursday. I’m going to meet the Doncaster boys after the meeting for some beers too. May as well make the most of a free ticket up north ey! Great having friends in different postcodes!
