As I may not post again in 2006, (brag)cos i’ll be snowboarding baby yeah!!(/brag) I thought I would take this opportunity to wish everyone a Happy New Year and (briefly) carry out my annual reflection of the year gone by.

So not really the happiest of years for me 2006. In fact pretty shitty in places! Maybe even the worst year ever … or was it???

The top and bottom ends of 2006 were possibly the happiest and most exciting passages of my life to date. It’s just the bit in the middle which screwed it all up! Having someone I loved very much walk out of my life will never be the most joyful of memories, but there has been so so so much more to remember from 2006:

Four excellent holidays including the Scottish Highlands, Crete, Switzerland and the French Alps (in two days!)

Being promoted into a great job at a great company with great people in a great city (so many other adjectives David - new years resolution - expand vocabulary!)

Meeting fantastic new people, through work, holidays and my new found singleness!

Keeping in touch with people I feared would be lost

Continuing to keep in touch with the people who care about me, and who I care about the most (Boys in Bath - here’s to our holiday in 3 years :-))

Living with a true legend and great companion, Mr Hassan, and continuing to live in my own lovely flat

All the house parties, pubs, clubs, weekends away, posh meals, fancy gatherings and games nights

And lets face it, for four months anyway, sharing my life with someone I cared for beyond belief (even if it wasn’t reciprocated!)

Oh and I can’t forget - my little pet mouse. She really made my year!

So, 2006 will always be tainted, but I have learnt so much and am so much stronger, that 2007 can only be a smashing year! Here’s to the future, but don’t forget the past, Auld Lang Syne, Don’t look back in anger - I hear Amit say!

Happy New Year

Today I have Itchy Feet.

My favourite TV programme EVER has been running for the last two weeks on BBC2 - This Life. It kind of shaped my young teenhood - and seems to be having the same effect on me in young adulthood. This Life truly was the best show of the 90’s - and is as good as a repeat 10 years later. I only hope the brand new Christmas Special lives up to the previous 32 episodes! I can relate to Egg more than ever, and to the kind of lifestyle they all live. Anna refers to egg as a SNAG - ‘Sensitive New Age Guy’. I like that - I am certainly a SNAG! I think far too much about pointless crap that will never get me anywhere in life. Egg has loads of issues - none more prominent than his confused, cheeting girlfriend - who makes his already confused wrong-job-don’t-know-what-to-do-with-life state even worse.

I don’t know what to do with my life right now. I really want to experience something different. I want something really big to change. I feel really excited about life at the mo, but a bit paralysed as to where i’m going. I want to travel, move house, meet new people, learn a new language, live somewhere completely different, do something completely different - but then I want to hold out with my current life - with the opportunities I have in front of me…

Confused…! I am! A little drunk too! Maybe I should sleep. Its the lack of food for the last week affecting my brain - I’ve eaten only Fish and Avacodo for the last 4 nights (Cod, Mackerel and Salmon) and tonight i’ve had just beer! Less Non-Sense tomorrow I primrose!

Autumn has finally arrived in Northern Europe. Switzerland was grey, windy and rainy all weekend. However, the journey back from Bern to Geneva Airport was beautiful. So many fantastic colours across the sparsly populated, densly forested land. The Train took me through the Bernese Oberland to Geneva via Fribourg and Romont, a string of snow covered mountains, and along the breathtaking expanse of Lake Geneva to Lausanne. I’ll put some of the pictures up as soon as I have time to compress them!

Saturday was superb. I met my soon-to-be 16 year old half brother George for the first time in about 6 years! Last time I saw George, he was small enough for me to give piggy back rides and watch cartoons with! Its very strange meeting this same brother now as practically an adult. George plays the Guitar like he was born with one in his hand. We chatted about loads of stuff from Skiing and drinking to girlfriends and Bands. The most incredible thing is that George is a Swiss national, who speaks not only Swiss German as a first language but also English with an English - almost West Country - accent, plus a little french too! I am very envious that my 15 year old brother is both multi-lingual and a better guitar player than me! Damn it! Well, surely i’ve got to be better at something…I’m…I’m…older!!

I got back last night, tired and worn out from the 8 hour door to door Bern to Brighton trip (hey - its taken me longer to get to my Mum’s in Bath door to door - bloody English transport!), to the French movie Amelie on Film4. What a great film! What a great concept. Amelie is a waitress who spends her time trying to make other people happy by being generally mischievous and planting tricks to make people change their attitude toward things. I want to be like that - mischievous, but in a good way, to help other people! I’ve decided the first thing i’m going to do along this new path is…set Adz up with one of my Male friends…! Mischievous but oh so right!

I think I’ve had myself and world around me transported 30 degrees north! Its so cold! It didn’t matter how fast I cycled on the way home - I was still shivering! What with the light fading at 4 it really feels like we’re in Scandinavia. I hate winter. I’m going to need a serious beer jacket this weekend at Lewes Fireworks.

Last night I went out with Leo, Adz, Jonny, Ben, Gron, Dan and James to watch the Chelsea game. What a game! I love the champions league - its such a good competition! It was good to see Leo again as he’s been in London for a month. The boy is just so funny. Jon and Adz betted me a tenner each to walk up to this girl and say ‘lovely jug can i give it a hug’, saying nothing else (typical stupid drunken bet!) I of course wasn’t going to do it, but while I was umming and ahhing, Leo picks up the £20 off the table, walks over to the girl, hands her one of the tenners, says the line and comes back! Adz and Jon didn’t know what to say! Leo had done em fair and square! A little bit cheeky, but still - if you will make stupid bets lads!

Anyways, before I go to bed (gotta be up to go to Harrogate early tomorrow morn), I just wanted to make a small comment on a piece of news I found out yesterday. Rachel, my delightful ex-girlfriend, wrote to me to advise me she has another fella. I don’t want to go into any of my thoughts or feelings on the subject - but I just wanted to make people aware that I’m aware of this information, and that you needn’t feel funny talking to me about it if you know - i’m fine about it - I really am! (Our Home made porn is available here!)

I am still growing it - but I have had it cut (I am one big oxymoron!) - and pretty short too. I’m really happy with it - its probably one of my better hair cuts! The fluffy sides have gone but the top still has plenty of hair on it in a funky messed up fashion. It was a hard decision - I’ve been so determined to let it grow, but it couldn’t just puff out like a microphone any longer! I’m gonna slowly let the top grow so eventually it’ll flop over and flow down the sides, whilst keeping the hair on the sides relatively short - NOT like an undercut I must add!

Back to work…Weekend in 4 hours! Woo!
