We visited the Serengeti for a safari holiday after climbing Kilimanjaro, Tanzania and Africa’s highest mountain. The safari in the serengeti was a treat following the exhausting climb.
As part of the safari package, we had 2 land rovers between 8 of us, which was ample room, 3 guides, a cook and tents which we camped in the seregenti itself. This was an awesome experience as we fell asleep to the sound of the savannah, listening to monkeys, lions and hyenahs laughing.
The safari in the serengeti itslef was a little disappointing. Whilst we saw plenty of amazing wildlife, including lion cubs, leopards in trees, elephants (one of which got a little angry with our jeep) and others, we spent most of the 3 days following other jeeps around. A serengeti safari therefore is a little contrived, and does unfortunately feel like ‘tourism’. This said, the serengeti is a great place to see some fascinating wildlife in its natural habitat before much of it sadly may be lost forever.
